Meet Ghaidaa: Crafting Culture, Community, and Confidence in Berlin

Let me introduce you to someone truly special: Ghaidaa — a passionate woodworker, educator, and all-around creative powerhouse who’s carving out something beautiful in Berlin — literally.

Her journey begins in Cairo, where childhood Sundays meant strolling through the historic alleys of Fatimid Cairo. While other kids played, young Ghaidaa stood still, mesmerized by the tentmakers, copper workers, and, most of all, the woodworkers. Their chisels and sawdust, their quiet focus, it sparked something in her. A lifelong love for craft was born.

By 2015, she had started learning traditional carpentry in Egypt, dreaming of one day opening her own workshop. She bought her first set of tools, built a side table (partly to impress her parents), and followed the path as far as it would take her. Life, of course, had other plans: scholarships abroad, moving countries, but the dream never faded.

Fast forward to Berlin, 2023: Ghaidaa is now bringing that childhood dream to life in the most meaningful way. She leads hands-on woodworking workshops that blend Islamic art and traditional craftsmanship, creating a space where creativity meets culture, and people connect through making.

And she’s not just building furniture, she’s building community.

“I love seeing that moment when someone looks at their creation and says, ‘Wait, I made this?!’ That joy never gets old,” she shared with a big smile.
— Ghaidaa

Her workshops are open to everyone, regardless of background or experience. She brings her skills not only as a maker but as a seasoned educator and training manager, guiding her students with care, clarity, and deep respect for where they’re starting from.

We recently worked together in a one-on-one consultation, and something she said stayed with me:

“You helped me think strategically and emotionally. I left with both inspiration and spreadsheets. That’s a rare combo!”
— Ghaidaa

That’s the kind of balance she brings to her own work, too — thoughtful, heart-centered, and grounded in real structure.

So, if you’re in Berlin and curious about trying woodworking in a warm, inclusive, and inspiring space, keep your eyes on Ghaidaa’s upcoming workshops.

You’ll walk away with more than a wooden object.
You’ll leave with pride. With presence.
And quite possibly — with a new friend.
